Welcome to your guide on how to count calories! Without a shadow of a doubt the most common goal that personal trainers and fitness instructors are faced to help clients with is losing weight. Obviously if you are looking at losing belly fat, taking weight off the hips, if you want that hard body look, or appear more toned and defined instead of having that ‘soft’ look that body fat provides us with… That fat has gotta go!

This guide provides all the tools you need to strip off unwanted fat the healthy way, so you can maintain and keep your new body. It teaches you how to count calories but that very task wont be a daily burden. In other words, you will only need to work out how many calories to eat per day, and then stick to a diet plan that keeps you in that daily range, rather than having to count the calories of every food you eat!

The calories that come from food provide us with energy for our daily lives. If we eat more than what our bodies burn up in a day the excess calories quite easily get stored as fat!

Here is your step by step plan:

1. Work out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)
This is necessary to establish your starting point to find out how many calories you need just to maintain your current weight.

2. Determine how many calories you should consume to actually start losing fat.

3. Balance out the right portions of protein, carbohydrates, and fats

‘You are what you eat!' If you incorporate the right foods in the right portions into your new eating plan, that higher sense of well being is right around the corner. Imagine achieving your weight loss goal, looking good, and also having clear skin and energy within! Well, I didn’t actually mean for that to rhyme but I hope you understand that incorporating the right nutrition strategy will make success even sweeter.

4. Incorporate low Glycaemic Index (GI) foods in to your plan
Learn how low GI foods to your advantage to help control your appetite and delay hunger.

From this point on, you’ll have all the information you need to put together a meal plan containing the right amount of calories you need to lose fat. You wont have to know how to count calories every day, because you have already done that to create your meal plan. All you have to do is follow it!

The answer to weight loss obviously lies in learning how to count calories in the beginning, eating less calories than what you’d burn up in a day, and to mix that with the appropriate amount of exercise. The crucial part of this fact is that you want to make darn sure you do it right so it doesn’t turn in to a fad diet where you end up worse off than when you started. You will need to incorporate the principles I am sharing with you on these pages in to your daily life. It will have to be a part of you.

Why do you think the rich keep getting richer? Because they know how to accumulate money and, more importantly, how to keep it. Why do you think the majority of people who win the lotto end up in a worse financial position a year down the track? Because they have accumulated money without actually earning it, and because of that fact they do not know how to manage and keep it.

What on earth does the above example have to do with learning how to count calories? Simple. If you can learn how to manipulate your body weight the healthy way you will gain the right mental attitude to be able to maintain and live the life you dreamed of with regard to health and fitness.

Imagine if you just clicked your fingers now, and you instantly received your ideal body. Would be fantastic right? Well, for a short time anyhow. The reason you don’t have your ideal body now is because you are not in the habit of doing the things you need to do in order to achieve and maintain your ideal body. And if you received your dream body in an instant, you’d quickly revert to your current self because of your current habits, just like those people who end up in the same or worse financial position who win the lotto.
